Acababamos de le-la noticia na prensa. Tratátase dunha historia moi entrañable e ocorreusenos recorrer ó noso amigo Francois para informalo do tema e solicitarlle a súa colaboración. Pretndiamos que esta noticia transcendera nos medios de comunicación canadianos e, ó mesmo tempo, ver se eramos quen de localizar á persoa que lanzara ó mar a botella. Este é o texto do primeiro e-mail que lle enviamos a Francois Soler, galego de pro e profesor na Universidade de Umoncton, Canadá.

Queria pedirche a tua colaboracion. Un rapaz de Camarinhas atopou unha botella cunha mensaxe enviada dende Canada.

En Vieiros queriamos saber quen e a persoa que mandou a mensaxe e mais mandar esta noticia aos medios de comunicacion canadianos.

Mando o texto da nota de prensa que queriamos mandar. Esta en galego e haberia que traducila ao ingles.

<<Xos Romar Bermdez estaba pesacando nunha praia de Camarias cando veu unha botella cunha mensaxe procedente da outra beira do atlntico.Ashly Harvey, de Saint John, buscaba amigos e acaba de atopalos na vella Galiza. Romar Bermdez regaloulle a botella seu neto Fabin Martnez Romar quen a ensinou na escola. El e mis os seus compaeiros de aula estn preparando a resposta para Ashly na que pensan poer un mapa da Costa da Morte e unha foto de todos eles. Ashly escribiu a sa mensase o 16 de maio de 1993 e nela di "Se atopas est botella gostarame saber algo de ti. Vivo en 47 by Bulls road, Saint Johns-Newfouland". Fabin vive en Campolongo-Carns (Vimianzo).

Gosto de fazer a traduc,ao agora mesmo que acabo de ve-lo.
No meu computador os acentos nao passam, assim que alguma coisas do teu email tive que devinhar, nomes como Fabian, Carnes, Camarinhas, que faltam-lhe letras no email que recebim.

Pois como tinha o enderec,o da pessoa, pensei que ao melhor poder var-che alguma mais noticias. Assim falei por telefonema com Terranova, com Saint Johns. Falei co pai da rapariga de 13 anos, Ashley, quem mandou a mensagem. Perguntou pelo enderec,o de Fabian que eu nao conhecia, somente dizem-lhe que foi recebida na Galiza e que Fabian e sua classe iam a contestar. O seu telefonema ee 709-364-1769. A rua ee 47 Bay Bulls Road, Saint Johns, a Terranova.

Yesterday I have talk with you on the phone referent to your daughter message send in a bottle across the Atlantic in 1993 and reported by the Internet Galizans organization Vieiros.

As I have told you I got the news from the Internet and because you are not too far I decide to call you and give the news of the well arrival of the message to the other shore of the Atlantic, to GALIZA ( it is a autonomous country in North West Spain, with their own Celtic culture and language, Galeg , a variety of Portuguese ). Galiza lies about the same latitude as Saint Johns on the other side of the Atlantic, the prominent Cap Finisterre it is well know to all sailors and the bottle with Ashleys message was found not to far from there.

Pois eu pergunteilhe ao pai ... e o assunto que foi uma sorpresa muito grande... ja faz quase tres anos, ela tem 13 anos agora , tinha 10 daquela. A resposta como digo foi de sorpresa... nao pudem ter mais informacao ... parece que a carafa botouna a mar na peninsula de AVALON, um pouco mais abaixo de Saint Johns, que foi ela so ( quero dizer nao foi coisa de escola...) e nao sabia a onde pudera chegar... depois de tres anos ee uma sorpresa... o home onte quando falei con le estava emocionado e sorprendido... hoje falou um pouco mais. Eu fico ledo que o asunto ee entre marinheiros... e esses sao os mesmos tenhem os mesmos problemas nas duas beiras do atlantico... nao tem que ver ca politica .... ainda que jogam com eles.

Pois eu, fora a politica e os problemas de quem tem mais forc,a , eu digo que os marinheiros sao os mesmos nas duas beiras do atlantico, que conhecendo Terranova e Galiza tem muitas coisas em comum ... ate pode ser o granito do que estam feitas as costas... e que no fondo levamos a viver das mesmas aguas desde faz muito ... Pois dezia que fora da politica devia ser uma boa oportunidade para que os marinheiros ou as escolas nas duas beiras tenham razao de se falar...
O ano que vem , quero dizer esta ano ... os de Terranova celebram o 500 aniversario da chegada de Joanni Caboti que trabalhava para os reises de inglaterra e decideu que essas aguas eram deles... o que nao sabem e que os nossos marinheiros ja vinham antes mais nao sabiam onde vinham... daquela nao havia forma de conhecer a longitude em mar ... o unico que sabiam que iam pescar e levava um mes chegar ... Pois dezia que os de Terranova estam de festa... assim que coincide muito bem este evento ... Por outro lado eles nao sabem que o nome de sao Xoam , Saint John, foi dado pelos galegos e portugueses...que lhe chamavam Sao Xoam do passage, ja que a entrada do porto ee estreita...
